There is no word for art on the island of Java, but there is a word for beauty,
KECANTIKAN, which is also the word for good. The idea of good and beauty
linked together helped shape my philosophy that art should be for the benefit
of society. I believe that my job as a designer is to make all of those impulses
merge into a singular response to a puzzle.
